Meet the Artist

Lucia Mills is a Halifax-based ceramic artist originally from Ottawa, Ontario. She is a current student of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD University), and is the current president of NSCAD’s Clay Club. Lucia specializes in creating functional ceramic works that combine artistry with everyday practicality. Her pieces are inspired by both the natural beauty of the Maritimes and her personal experiences, blending minimalist aesthetics with thoughtful design.

Lucia’s work focuses on creating ceramics that are not only visually striking but also highly functional—each piece thoughtfully crafted for daily use. Whether it's a handmade mug, a bowl, or a platter, her creations reflect a commitment to quality and utility, allowing art to seamlessly integrate into the routines of everyday life.

Outside of her studio practice, Lucia is a proud cat owner, often finding inspiration in the quiet companionship of her two cats. Their presence, alongside her creative process, grounds her work in warmth, comfort, and a sense of home.

Through her ceramics, Lucia invites others to connect with the beauty of simple, functional art and the joy of handmade objects that elevate daily moments.
